As nominations come in, organisations will be contacted to submit an entry.
Seafarer centre of the year
This award will recognise the seafarer centre that has done the most to provide high quality welfare services and facilities for visiting seafarers. In your submission you will need to tell us:
Criteria
- What services & facilities the seafarer centre provides.
- About your ship visiting service including the number of ships visited by each volunteer/welfare worker.
- How accessible the centre is and its opening times
- What makes your centre stand out from other centres
- How you work with other welfare organisations, where they exist, in the port
Port of the year
This award will recognise the port that has done the most for the provision of and access to high quality welfare services and facilities for seafarers. In your submission you will need to tell us:
Criteria
- What the port has done to enhance the provision of welfare services and facilities for visiting seafarers.
- How the port involves welfare organisations and workers in the planning and provision of services and facilities.
- How the port makes the facilities and services easily accessible to visiting seafarers.
Shipping company of the year
This award recognises the shipping company that has made the biggest difference to seafarers’ welfare on board their vessels and in port. In your submission you will need to tell us:
Criteria
- About the welfare services and facilities you provide on board ship.
- How the company helps seafarers access welfare services and facilities in ports.
- How the company enables seafarers to keep in contact with their family & friends while at sea.

Welfare personality of the year
Awarded to the organisation or the individual who, in the opinion of the judges has made an outstanding contribution to seafarer’s welfare. This award can be self nominated or nominated by seafarers or organisations and individuals involved with seafarers welfare. In your submission you will need to tell us:
Criteria
- How has this person or organisation provided a high quality welfare service to seafarers?
- What makes them excel?
- Why should they win this award?
