Shortlisting is now taking place for the International Seafarers' Welfare Awards. A large number of entries have been submitted for the awards so shortlists from each of the four categories will go to the judges in February.

The International Seafarers' Welfare Awards will be presented by Mr Guy Ryder, the Director General of the International Labour Organisation, at an event at the ILO on Monday 7 April 2014. The event will take place during the opening day of the Special Tripartite Committee for the Maritime Labour Convention.

The judges for the awards are Ms Cleo Doumbia-Henry, Director of International Labour Standards at the ILO, Mr Masamichi Morooka, Chairman of the International Chamber of Shipping, Mr Steve Cotton, Acting General Secretary of the International Transport Workers' Federation, and Father Bruno Ciceri, Chairman of the International Christian Maritime Association.

Roger Harris, Executive Director of ISWAN, said "We are extremely pleased to have received some many high quality entries for the awards. It will be difficult for the judges to decide the winners."
